Planning a baby shower and looking for some simple ideas you can do to make the shower unique, here are a few ideas to get your creative mind thinking. ?From how to plan the food, simple decorations and even gift ideas.

Here is what we knew when we started planning this shower…; it’;s a boy, animals and shower would be in February.

funny pillow cases

1. Decide your own take on the theme…; rather than store bought paper plates, napkins and cups with baby animals, take the theme to a new place but let animals become a theme throughout. ?Start with a color scheme that everyone likes, in this case gold, white and a touch of blue with burlap accents was the plan. ?Choosing basic gold and white plates is ideal when there is a stack of each left overaccent pillow case baby canvas decorative, you can use the rest for another event.2. Brainstorm clever decor ideas that follow your theme like spray painted toy animals in glitter gold. ?You can collect different animals from garage sales, thrift markets or toy stores. ?They don’;t even all have to be the same size, when painted they look great together. ?Use spray paint, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam or an acrylic gold paint.

or simple die cut animal shapes from gold glitter paper, painted paper or buy them ready to go. ?Add them to toothpicks and they are adorable.

3. When choosing the time of the shower, the food you plan can make a difference. ?A shower in the am hours is perfect for brush and morning foods, lunch time and serving a lunch menu makes sense, the afternoon is ideal for a dessert bar or small snacks or dinner where you can go all out and serve a full meal or appetizers. ? This afternoon shower was perfect for an assortment of homemade goodies and purchased items look great together in a dessert bar setting.

4. Order cookies, cake or cupcakes to match your theme, while keeping them one of a kind for your party. ?We wanted to make sure to have animal cookies, but didn’;t want to introduce any colors, so white with gold dots were the perfect solution and they turned our cuter than we ever imagined.

We decided to order mini cakes and cookies verses a big cake and we loved not only the taste, but how cute everything looked. ?These adorable Bundtinis, bite size versions were made by Nothing Bundt Cakes with locations around the country. ?These little cakes were so good.

5. Use basic home accents to create your decor rather than buy a lot of decorations you will only use once. ?With white, gold and burlap as the colors, we collected white plates, gold chargers and accented with Canvas Corp Burlap Plant Holders which bake great baskets and holders for goodies on the buffet.

6. ?Fill containers you have with themed items like this large clear container filled with animal crackers or…;.

…; have a little fun and overflow a extra large martini glass with chocolate animal crackers, our versions of a chocolate martini for a baby shower.

7. You can spend a lot of money on flowers, balloons and other decor, but a touch of fresh flowers to any event is always nice. ?Pick up a few bundles of flowers from your local Sam’;s and arrange them yourself. ?Choose a variety of containers and mix things up a bit.

We got lucky to find these amazing blue?hydrangeas that added just the right touch of blue.

8. ?Add a bit more blue by dying chocolate for covering pretzels and strawberries with a hint of blue and as you add them to the bar they fill in just the right amount of blue.

9. ?You can make your own invitations and thank you cards that match the theme or something unique that works with the theme. ?We wanted to make our invites has a classic, vintage feel that set the tone for the shower. ?Choose a fun font and some vintage art from a free art website and make your own design or die cut a cut little icon and make each one by hand. ?Printing or making them may depend on how many people you have invited. ?You can also make matching thank you cards to give to the new parents. ?Ask the guests to put their address on the envelopes to save the parents to be a little time when sending out thank you cards.

10. ?Ask your guests to buy a book rather than a card and fill up the bookshelves with lots of books for the parents to begin reading to the little one right away. ?You can leave a sweet note inside.

11. ?If there is not a guest book, why not use a book as your guest book too, asking each guest to sign their name in the front.

So next time you have the opportunity to host a shower, party or event and would like to create your own decor and style, you can take these ideas and translate them. ?Pull out your die cut machines, paint brush, paints, papers, etc. and add crafty touches here and there. ?Use items you have around the house that fit your theme and choose foods that become part of the decor.

Happy Creating!!!
